Career development grant

The SPPS Career Development Grant is a unique, broad-profile grant that aims to support young scientists in the Scandinavian plant-research community in preparing for and starting their independent research career.

Some examples of possible activities:
  • Participation in workshops/courses (online or in-person courses, although travels are restricted to within Europe (EEA states + UK); several courses can be combined in one application)

  • Career development workshop for several postdocs, for example within one group or department

  • Cost of a pilot project to develop an independent research idea (no purchase of equipment, must be independent of current host lab)

  • Initiating collaboration within the Nordic countries to develop a proposal (costs covered only for postdocs)

  • A more comprehensive career development plan including several activities

General rules

  • You must be an early-career scientists at the postdoc level (or equivalent) and be registered as an SPPS member. Join here!

  • You must be actively working in a Nordic country.

  • Activities are limited to 12 months.

  • The grant has a maximum budget of 40,000 SEK.

  • Applications are accepted continuously.

  • All successful grantees must submit a financial and scientific report at the end of the activity using the following forms:

Incomplete or faulty applications will be automatically rejected.

  1. Download the cover page template from one of the links below

  2. Make one single pdf file containing:

  • A filled and signed cover page

  • Project description including a justification on how it will further the career of the early-career scientist (max. 1 page)

  • A clear budget divided in items with estimated costs and a justification for each item.

  • A CV and publication list (max. 2 pages).

  • PhD certificate.

  • Letter of support from your host/PI.
